A little face-lift

In my eternal quest to better myself and everything I do, I’ve decided to make that little change I was wanting filter through a few aspects of my life. I made myself a little “schedule” for my cleaning, a little like what you find on those FLY websites, but tuned to my own ways of doing things. I had already established that each day I was going to tackle one particular chore (vacuum, laundry, filing/bills to name a few) then I started realising that that is all well and good, but my floors aren’t cleaning themselves and although I don’t mind vacuuming the first floor twice a week and the others once a week, I was not being very thorough (like under the bed and such) and then all the little bits and things started nagging at me. (Like when I retrieved lost toys from under the couch and came out with more than just the toy! DUST BUNNIES UNITE!)

SO, I needed to add, but didn’t want to feel overwhelmed by a weeks worth of cleaning that would need to be repeated every month at least! (so we don’t get taken over by those bunnies!) So, after much thought (I really like to think things WAY over!) I came up with a weekly/monthly plan. The four first weeks of the month are each dedicated to a section of the house (1st floor, front; 1st floor, back; 2nd floor; basement) Then each day, while I’m doing my daily thing (ex: vacuuming on Mondays) I just do something MORE for that week’s “area” example: today we are Monday the 24th. The 24th day of the month falls in the 4th week, i.e. the basement. Now normally this means I vacuum as usual (Mondays is 1st floor only) and then do something extra (like swiffer and wash the floors). This usually takes 15 min each and each day like this for a month yields a cleaner house.

Then there are those scraggler days at the end of each month so those are assigned things that only need to be done every few months, like wash the car and such. I’ve been doing this a week now and I find it’s good to not have to think what NEEDS to be done now, but just look it up on my little chart and just do it :) I know, I’m anal, but who cares but me and my hubby ;) and he’s pretty darn happy to come home to a cleaner fresher house. Oh, that and I can keep an eye on spiders, I HATE them enough to do all this and keep them OUT of my house!! lol

In the spirit of change also, I signed up for a year membership at the gym (my 3 mo expired last Friday) and also paid to get 6 1 hour training sessions!! and 2 consultations with a nutritionist! I can’t wait to see what she (my trainer/nutritionist) has in store for me, I LOVE her! She’s SO thoughtful and kind and just takes time to talk to you while she does her rounds. She’ll be getting her actual degree in training and nutrition at the end of May, so I’m just waiting for her to be “official” to set up my first appointment with her :) I also got a cookbook out of the deal, but trust me, this is NOT a reason to get this thing, the recipes are, how to say, not always accurate. Like mixing 2 Tbsp of vinegar and 1 of olive oil with 1/2 CUP of chicken stock powder?!?! EWWW. I tasted it, disgusting. I think the recipe was meant to be 1/2 teaspoon of the stock at the most!! oh well, there are a few other things that aren’t explained well enough, so I’ve started writing down my notes in the book. Oh well, so much for not writing in it (I have a bad habit of doing that! in PURCHSED books of course!)

And last but not least, a little face-lift to my site :) Of course, this you might already have noticed as you “came in”. I really liked the look of a few professional photography sites I saw recently, inspired by them I came up with a “front-page” if you will. Every time you reload the page, you get a new photo. Hopefully this doesn’t slow down anyone too much, of course, if you’re mostly interested in the blog, you need only bookmark this part of the site :P

It is also simply easier to “navigate” through the site this way. I’m quite happy with the results :) And just a little warning, the Portfolio part needs to be re-worked, it’s not something I can play around with myself as it’s a separate plug-in, not part of word-press itself, so I’m just going to let my DH take care of that one ;)

So, whatcha think of my face-lift? Do you see any wrinkles ;)
